Windmills, Legends and Charming Villages

Tripadvisor

Description

Don’t miss this marvellous route through the interior of Mallorca, with which we delve into the history and legends of the inland villages in the south-central part of Mallorca. Accompanied at all times by our expert local guides, the route offers us an interesting insight into the history of the windmills, which to this day make up the landscape of the Balearic Islands, and which are essential tourist attractions to get to know the most authentic Mallorca. And also that of each of the 5 charming villages of Mallorca that we are going to visit.

Driveando style, during the route we will make different stops to observe, taste, smell, feel and listen so that our visitors can enjoy “Mallorca with their 5 senses“.

Whether you come with your own car, or if you book our Vip-Trip service, with our communication system between vehicles you will not miss a single detail of the contents that we have carefully prepared. For clients with a car, our tour starts at a meeting point near Palma airport, ending at the Monasterio de Cura. Hotel pick-ups, for those who do not have their own vehicle, start approximately 30 minutes before the start of the tour.

The tour lasts approximately 5 hours, includes 3 tastings of typical Mallorcan products and covers 60 km through the central-southern part of the island.

Itinerary

  • Algaida
After travelling through the landscape of the windmills, we will arrive at the village of Algaida, where we will make our first visit to one of the best-preserved windmills. We will not be able to go inside as it is a private property, but we will be able to observe all the details of these beautiful structures that have survived the passage of time and that provided energy and sustenance to the inhabitants of the islands.
  • Pina
On our route on the way to Cura, we come across this quiet village of barely 500 inhabitants, where we will make our second stop, to take a walk to the Cruz de Pina, visit its fountain and listen to the history of the ancient washing places, a vestige of the Islamic period that stands out for the hydraulic systems of the archaeological remains of the place.
  • Lloret
Continuing along our route, we will take a detour to the village of Lloret de Vista Alegre, with a population of 1,400 inhabitants. We will not make a stop in the village but we will be able to cross its plains and listen to the history and traditions of this magical place.
  • Montuïri
Another of the villages that we will pass through with our expert local guides, Montuïri is the perfect example of rural and traditional Mallorca, perched on a hill with endless slopes. On the outskirts of the village, we will make our third stop of the day, this time to recharge our batteries while we enjoy a delicious pa amb oli in one of the most typical places visited by Mallorcans.
  • Randa and Cura Monastery
Our route continues to the village of Randa, which we will cross until we reach our last stop, the majestic Sanctuary of Cura, which rises 550 m above sea level surrounded by nature and from where we have spectacular 360º views of Mallorca, and from where we can, on clear days, see the island of Cabrera.
