Salt Marshes and Southern Cliffs in Mallorca

Tripadvisor

What to expect?

This route will take us to the southern part of the island, where we will find the most rugged coastline of the island, with impressive cliffs that we will approach to take amazing pictures.

Whether you come with your own car, or if you hire our Vip-Trip service, with our communication system between vehicles you will not miss a single detail of the contents that we have carefully prepared. The route offers us an interesting perspective on the history of this area of Mallorca, in which we delve into the character of Joan March and the legends of smugglers that abounded in this area at the beginning of the 20th century.

For clients with a car, our tour starts at a meeting point near Palma airport, ending at Sa Rápita beach. Hotel pick-ups, for those who do not have their own vehicle, will begin approximately 30 minutes before the start of the tour.

It lasts approximately 5 hours, includes 2 snacks of typical Mallorcan products and covers 90 Kms. through the southeast of the island of Mallorca, from Son Oms to Playa del Trenc, one of the most iconic beaches on the island.

Itinerary

Son Mut
Our first stop on our route to the cliffs is the Finca de Son Mut, a peculiar place where we will stop to see the largest fig tree experimentation field in the world. There are 1,724 fig trees of more than 830 different varieties from all over the world.

Far d´Es Cap Blanc (Es Cap Blanc Lighthouse)
Possibly one of the wildest corners of Mallorca and one of the most impressive balconies on the coast. The lighthouse was built in 1862 and is possibly one of the most beautiful of the 14 lighthouses on Mallorca. The lighthouse, which is still in operation and under public management, cannot be visited inside, but we will walk around it to admire this window to the Mediterranean while we take photos and enjoy a freshly baked ensaïmada.

Cala Pi
On our way to the Salinas d’Es Trenc, we come across another unmissable site, the tower of Cala Pi, and the cliff that leads down to the famous beach of Cala Pi, with its turquoise, crystal-clear water.

Es Trenc salt Marshes
Our last stop will be at the Es Trenc salt marshes, an idyllic spot where we can see the ponds in which the concentration of salt in the water is increased. This is one of those places that serves as an example to prove that it is possible to create ecosystems in which the action of man and wild animals live in harmony.

A representative of the salt-producing company will give us an illustrative talk on how the salt works and the different stages of the process until the salt that reaches our tables is obtained. The visit ends after tasting the delicious Quelitas biscuits with cheese.

We saw things we would never have seen otherwise. The radio system worked perfectly. Bridget was lovely. It was not an issue for us but maybe for some so I will mention it. The tour did not end at the starting point but quite some distance away. You will need some form of navigation available to you to get back to your starting point or hotel safely.
