Tripadvisor

What to expect?

The north of Gran Canaria stands out for its wild and rugged landscapes, as well as for its coastline full of impressive cliffs that hold back the fury of the Atlantic.

This full-day excursion will show you some of the most emblematic corners of the island.

We will visit the municipality of Ingenio, a town dedicated to the cultivation of sugar cane. Its village is a place that surprises us with its picturesque corners that preserve its historical heritage. One of the traditions currently alive in this municipality is to keep active the elaboration of fabrics with their laborious openwork, all thanks to the commitment of the women of the town.

Later we will arrive at Arucas, whose town offers an experience of sensations that begins as soon as we arrive at its historical centre. The old town of Arucas has a denomination of historical-artistic interest. The Parish Church of San Juan Bautista is an architectural piece of greater presence and social value in the municipality. Heritage, culture and tradition will be a constant during your visit to this municipality.

The visit to the Arehucas rum distillery is not included in the itinerary of the excursion (it is optional).

We will visit the village of Teror, a place of pilgrimage for the inhabitants of Gran Canaria, with its Basilica of the Virgen del Pino (patron saint of the diocese of the Canary Islands). The Plaza de Teror is the nerve centre of the town, from it you can see the typical balconies of Canarian architecture that adorn much of the municipality. It is a wide square that, besides being the entrance to the basilica, is a place of passage to the historic centre of the municipality.

We will continue our route towards Firgas, whose old town deserves a walk to appreciate the many places of tourist interest that the municipality has. We visit the Paseo de Gran Canaria and the Paseo de Canarias, which are located in the heart of the town and in what was formerly the Calle Real del Centro. The beauty of Firgas lies in visiting the “Balcony of the Atlantic”, for having the most beautiful views over the ocean, of all the north, east and west of Gran Canaria.

Finally, we will visit Puerto de Las Nieves, the coastal area of the municipality of Agaete. Nowadays it has become the main maritime connection of Gran Canaria with Tenerife. It is a picturesque and charming fishing village on the north coast of Gran Canaria. It has a typical Canarian atmosphere and character with amazing cliffs.

Impressive and small beaches, which, although stony, have cold and crystalline waters. The image of the Roque Partido or popularly known as “El Dedo de Dios” (God’s Finger) remains in history.
