Northern Treasures Express

What to expect?

Discover the jewels of Lanzarote on this excursion through the north!

We start our excursion with a visit to the Monumento al Campesino, the work of César Manrique and a tribute to the work in the fields of the Lanzarote community. We continue our excursion to the former home of Omar Sharif, LagOmar, in the village of Nazareth. This is probably one of the most impressive houses you will see in the north. It is a perfect fusion of the black and red tones of the volcanic island and the white of the island’s architecture.

We continue our excursion in the direction of the village of Haría, the Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees, where we stop for lunch (lunch not included in the price). After lunch, the route takes us to one of the most northern points of Lanzarote where we visit El Mirador del Rio, from where we will enjoy the incredible views of the Chinijo archipelago (Montaña Clara, Alegranza and the recently named island of La Graciosa).

The volcanic nature of Lanzarote, always present in the work of César Manrique, can be discovered in all its splendour during a visit to the Cueva de Los Verdes: the longest lava tunnel in the world. This work of César Manrique gives the sensation of entering the interior of Mother Earth, leaving unique and unforgettable sensations for all those who enter the cave. The curious thing about this tunnel lies in its natural origin, the result of lava (eruptions of the Corona volcano).

Our next stop is the Jameos del Agua: the first work of César Manrique, which inspired much of the artist’s subsequent work on the island.

Jameos del Agua* is a unique enclave in the world as a result of the lava from the Corona volcano collapsing the roof of its volcanic tube. The tunnel is 6 km long, of which at least 1.5 km run under the Atlantic Ocean thanks to its proximity to the sea.

Upon entering you will be greeted by a small Jameo with large ferns. This unique Jameo has a charming cafeteria that blends in with its surroundings. Jameos del Agua features a unique endemic crab (Munidopsis Polimorpha), characterised by being blind, albino and measuring less than 1 cm.

After climbing the staircase carved into the rock itself and admiring the garden walls that accompany us, the architectural genius of César Manrique, and the stone ceilings of both rooms that act as a connection between them, leave us with an impressive image.

Leaving the large Jameo, we find a room in which we can appreciate a long crystalline pool surrounded by palm trees and cactus that leave us with an impressive image to photograph. Just behind, we find the auditorium: a magical place where concerts and shows are held.

Once this visit is over, we head back to our accommodation.
