Lanzarote in a day

What to expect?

With our guided tour you will get to know the places that have made Lanzarote a world-famous destination, as well as the volcanic nature full of contrasts and/or the works of César Manrique.

Our first stop will be in “El Golfo”, a small coastal village. There, we will take a pleasant walk to enter a spectacular volcano sculpted by the tides where we will find “El Charco de Los Clicos”, a small lake of a deep green colour that is witness to the microfauna that populates the waters of the island. Then, the route will take us to the south to contemplate the fantastic volcanic landscape in “Los Hervideros”, where the lava acquires whimsical shapes and, when still hot, comes into contact with the cold sea. Also on the way, we can see the “Salinas del Janubio”, the largest in the Canary Islands.

We continue in the direction of the “Timanfaya National Park” and before entering it, we have the possibility to do something that both children and adults enjoy: “the camel ride” (optional, not included in the price).

We will continue into the bowels of the “Timanfaya National Park” doing the “Route of the Volcanoes” in which we see different types of craters combined by a vivid chromatism that reflects the origin of the eruption, the materials that it emitted or even the intensity with which it exploded. We will see the traces of the eruptions that took place almost 300 years ago by performing geothermal demonstrations, that is to say, we will see the heat that still emanates from the earth in different ways, all of them very spectacular.

Our next stop will be for lunch (optional) in the small village of “Mancha Blanca” next to the church of Los Dolores (Virgen de los Volcanes), patron saint of Lanzarote.

After lunch, we will head north passing by “El Monumento al Campesino”, a work of César Manrique as a tribute to the efforts of the peasants of Lanzarote. On the way, we will also see the sandy areas that cross the island, known as the Jable, the old capital of Lanzarote: La Villa de Teguise, and the fertile farms of the interior of the Valles.

Along the way, we will find one of the most beautiful valleys of the island of Lanzarote, in the village of Haría, known as the “Valley of the Thousand Palm Trees”. A beautiful tradition surrounds the myth of palm trees.

We will continue along the slopes of the impressive Corona Volcano to head towards the coast on our way to Jameos del Agua, but not before stopping at the viewpoint of Los Helechos for a photo stop with breathtaking views of the north coast of Lanzarote. We will also visit the spectacular volcanic cave of the “Jameos del Agua”, transformed by the Lanzarote artist “César Manrique” which aims to show the visitor space for the contemplation of nature barely intervened by man. The “Jameos del Agua” is an enormous hole produced as a consequence of the collapse of the roof of a volcanic tube and located inside the volcanic tunnel produced by the eruption of the Corona Volcano. The tunnel has a known length of 6 km, of which at least 1.5 km run under the sea surface. The Jameos del Agua is located in the section of this tunnel closest to the coast. From an ecological point of view, it is worth mentioning a unique and endemic species of crab, the blind crabs, a crab barely a centimetre long, albino and blind.

After these spectacular visits, we will take the road back to our hotel.
