What to expect from this hiking route to Volcan de la Corona and Riscos de Famara?
This route starts in the village of Ye and we will head towards the Corona volcano. During the hike to the crater we will be amazed by the beautiful agricultural views, as well as the spectacular lava flows called Malpaíses, with large basaltic blocks extending into a sea of emerald colour.
After observing the huge crater, we will go around its east face to see the distance of the volcanic tube which is 7.6km long, 1.6km of which is submerged by the eruption during the last ice age.
Afterwards, we will descend and walk a few kilometres in the central part of the Famara cliff, which with its 22km long, a rock wall was built from sea level up to more than 500m high and you can see the top of the island; the Peñas del Chache with its 670m, and the views of the Chinijo Archipelago as a whole with the island of La Graciosa.
Due to the altitude and the influence of the trade winds during this route you will be able to enjoy one of the areas with the greatest diversity of flora and fauna, with a large number of endemic species, as well as ornithological species, which our naturalist guide will show you.
